Dr. B.V. Patil

Dr. B.V. Patil is the founder vice-chancellor of the University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur, Karnataka. His career as an entomologist spanned more than 34 years during which he worked on pest management of field crops particularly on cotton and demonstrated IPM technology in large areas with farmer participatory approach. He has guided 10 Ph.D. and 36 M.Sc. (Ag) students, and published more than 250 research articles. He has presented his work in several countries and won national and state awards. He has also worked as an FAO consultant on cotton IPM in Vietnam and cotton whitefly consultant in Iran. He is a fellow of Royal Entomological Society of England, UK and Fellow of Entomological Society of India, New Delhi. He was conferred with the Life Time Achievement Award for his contribution in the field of cotton pest management by Cotton Research and Development Association of India.
 
Currently, Dr. Patil serves as the Director of Education and is engaged in a mega research project titled ‘Integration of Radiation Technology in Red Gram Pest Management’ funded by NFSM, Government of India.
