Dr. Ram Datt

Dr. Ram Datt, is working as an Assistant Professor-cum-Jr. Scientist in the Department of Extension Education, Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, Bhagalpur.

He holds a bachelors degree in Agricultural Sciences from CSAU&T, Kanpur, master’s degree in Extension Education from Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (U.P.) and a doctoral degree in Dairy Extension Education from National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal (Haryana). He was accorded with ICAR-JRF & SRF and UGC-JRF. He is a gold medalist both from BHU and NDRI. He even owns on his name the most prestigious Jawahar Lal Nehru ICAR Award for his outstanding doctoral thesis. Dr. Datt gives his active involvement in university’s teaching, research, extension and capacity development programmes.

Agripreneurship, communication, innovation, behavioural economics, agricultural branding, conservation agriculture and extension management are some of the areas he has expertise in. Dr. Datt was also conferred with BAU’S best teacher award in the year 2018. He is the founder coordinator of Centre of Excellence for Teaching and Learning (CETL) of the varsity. He has been holding positions like Officer In-charge of Placement Cell and Assistant Public Relation Officer of the University.

He has successfully completed three research projects namely “Agripreneurship (state plan funded project); “Role of young agri-professionals as entrepreneurs” and “Participatory video production funded by NABARD”. He rejoices the grandeur of developing new extension methodology i.e. third party assisted consultancy model (e-crop doctor). Since 2014, has been associated with mega project entitled “Sustainable and Resilient Farming System Intensification (SRFSI) for Eastern Gangetic Plains” (ACIAR, Australia funded) and is also leading an ACIAR, funded project on Farmers Behaviour Insight. He has even organized various capacity development programmes on many divergent and far-reaching topics like Professional Etiquettes, Soft Skill Development, Leadership Development, Personal Branding, Entrepreneurship and Information and Communication Technology.

He has shared triage of his efforts in organizing national seminar on Re-orientation of Agricultural Education and a National Farmer Science Congress on Grassroots Innovation. During his small yet illustrious career he keeps visiting different countries like Australia, Bangladesh and Nepal for his scientific meetings. He has authored a number of research papers and popular articles. He has taken his dynamic messages to his students by including them in all possible ways he could, helping them realize their true potential; eventually putting them on the path of personal growth and fulfillment.
